Grover Shares Their New Year’s Resolutions
Kicking off 2023, students and teachers at Grover Cleveland shared their resolutions and hopes for the new year.
For many, school is the lingering priority we all have at the top of our minds. For Freshmen, thoughts about what the Spring semester will bring ruminates, and many Seniors are choosing paths for life after Grover. Senior, Erick Rijo said, “My New Year’s resolution is to go to college, to get a job this year, and be successful…nothing but successfulness.” Since returning from winter break, students are showing more motivation to succeed in their classes. Perhaps this is due to the Spring season heading our way, or inspiration taken from the early January graduates.
Probably one of the most popular resolutions involves physical improvement. Gym memberships skyrocket after the New Year, and the Grover Cleveland community seems likely to partake in this trend. Coach Irizarry of the basketball team said that part of his resolution is to “get back into the gym; a gym is opening up in the school right now, [they’re] actually delivering the equipment as we speak.” This exciting information of a new fitness room having made its way to the school grounds will hopefully inspire more students to better their health.
While some are hitting the gym, others are choosing to change their eating habits. Ms. Lief, a dean and advisor of the Newspaper Club said, “My New Year’s resolution of 2023 is to eat more greens, plant-based foods…I’m doing it so I can just eat more clean, and just bring in more nutrients.” A healthful diet is a key component to sustaining a balanced and refreshed lifestyle.
With the New Year also arrives new goals for the recently formed club, Beautiful Creatures. Senior and leader of the club Amy Wang, shared that their resolution is to “Donate $200 to an animal shelter or organization by March.”
