The 2023 Pep Rally Brings New Noise

The pep rally is a yearly event that celebrates Grover Cleveland High School sport teams and all their achievements. On November 17, 2023 the Cleveland pep rally took place from 8:30 AM(first period) to 11:30 AM(fourth period). Due to the parent teacher conferences happening on the same day, the school day ended at the conclusion of the pep rally.

According to Mr. Colbert (head of student activities) the pep rally has been a yearly event for “more than half a decade.” Students involved with sports celebrate the new school year by going on the indoor track field and racing down to the basketball court showing students their school spirit. This year, for the first time, the school band performed at the pep rally. A portion of the school band played the entire day, performing “We Will Rock You”. This created an atmosphere of community and enthusiasm for everyone who attended. With the success of their performance, we can hope for something similar every year.

After all the teams finish their run from the track to the gym, the Grover Cleveland games commenced. All students and even teachers were eligible to get a chance to win some Grover Cleveland merch by scoring a 3-point basketball shot. In addition to this, a game of musical chairs was another way to win prizes. Now that the school band was an added element to the pep rally it makes some wonder what new features may be on the horizon. Maybe next time they will do more than just one song. Only time will tell.
